Are You Faithful?

When it comes to being faithful, you say that Christ can count on you.  You attend the morning worship service of your church every Sunday.  You make it a point not to miss attending church.  Thus, you say that you are faithful in serving Christ.

You may even take it a step further, and say you are faithful in attending church and by tithing.  The church needs money to maintain its ministry.  You faithfully give your tithe.  Therefore, you say you are faithfully serving Christ.

These two things are important.  Christ is glorified by doing both of these.  But there is more to faithfully serving Christ.  Thomas Aquinas said it well, when he stated: “Bestow on me, O Lord my God, understanding to know You, diligence to seek You, and a faithfulness that may embrace You, through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Yes, you need “a faithfulness” that comes through a right relationship with Christ.

Jesus talked about faithfulness.  He said, “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made over the household, to give food in due season?  Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing” (Matthew 24:45, 46, NKJV).  The servant that is faithful is the one who faithfully does his master’s bidding when his master returns.

Being faithful is not so much about doing this thing or that thing, over other things.  It is not about doing a great number of things.  Faithfulness is accomplished by sticking to the task day-in-and-day-out.

Ask Christ to lead you into the way(s) you can be faithful in your service to Him.  Then just be faithful to do it!  Do so today and every day!
