Being Courageous

You find that there are several times in your life when you meet some obstacle and need courage.  Hopefully, courage was applied when that need arose.  Too often though, we sink instead of standing tall.

It helps to stand tall during difficult times if you do some homework before troubled times occur.  Just know that if you are not going through challenging times right now, they will come sometime in the future.  So, prepare for them. Ernest Hemingway gives some wise counsel: “Courage is grace under pressure.”  Christ works in and through your life, especially during difficulties.  He gives you the grace to stand firm and not succumb to difficulties.

King David knew that his son, Solomon, would replace him on the throne of Israel. So, he gives him some wise counsel: “And David said to his son Solomon, ‘Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear or be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you.  He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord’” (1 Chronicles 28:20, NKJV).  Scripture is telling you to accomplish what God puts in your heart.  Just as it tells Solomon to “do it,” so it is telling you to strongly pursue what God tells you to do.  And how do you accomplish God’s will for your life?  By applying what that verse says; to “be strong and very courageous.”  Determine now that those words will be your plain of action when difficult times happen in your life.

Notice, in that above verse, that as you apply courage in your life, that you do not have to do that all by yourself.  “The Lord God will be with you.”

Attacking life with a courageous attitude honors God.  Make that a matter of prayer today!  Be courageous!
