Growing Older Or Wiser

One thing is for sure, you are growing older.  You see it in the mirror.  About the time your pimples clear up, you notice wrinkles to replace them.  No matter what your age, the signs of getting older are ever present.

There is nothing wrong about growing older.  In fact, it is a good thing to grow older, as that is what happens to you every day you are alive.  You need to accept the fact that advancing in age is a good thing.

Getting older is good, but you need to survey your life to see if you are only aging.  Are you a more mature Christian now, than you were five years ago?  A year ago?  A month ago?  Keeping on track spiritually is of utmost importance in your life.  Henry Nouwen, a Catholic priest, asked the question, “Is my growing older making me any closer to Christ?  Am I only getting older or am I getting more godly?” The answer to those questions reveals a lot about your walk with the Lord Jesus.

The Holy Bible speaks much about the Christian life.  It commands you to grow closer and closer to Jesus each and every day.  This growing means that your life reflects the life of Jesus more today, than it did yesterday.  In discussing how to grow in your faith, it says, “but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity.  Amen” (2 Peter 3:18).  To grow wiser, as you grow older, means you must grow in your knowledge of the Scriptures and grow in being a more gracious person.  You do all that for the glory of God.

Every day you are alive you grow older.  To grow wiser, means you live every moment of every day for God’s glory.  Being more knowledgeable of the Bible is a good start.
