Today is Halloween. It is full of kids dressing up in the costume of their choice and going out house-to-house saying, “Trick or treat!” and expecting to get candy. The dressing up into costumes is not only for kids. Many teenagers and adults will dress up in costumes to go to a Halloween Party, often with friends. All of this is done to go out and have a little fun.
There is also another side to Halloween. Some people worship Satan or the devil and for them Halloween takes on a whole different meaning. They gather together and have satanic services to worship the devil. The devil is real. You may not be able to see him, but he does exist. A missionary in Africa says there are three beasts that lie in wait for their prey: the lion, the leopard, and the hyena. The hyena does not devour, but attacks only the vital organs and quickly leaves after eating a few meager mouthfuls. The leopard, too, does not eat its prey, but desires only its blood. The lion, however, completely devours its helpless victim, leaving not a single portion. What a perfect picture of Satan, the destroyer of souls.
The best place to find out about what the devil does to you and to know his schemes, is the Holy Bible. For in the Scriptures, you know that the devil is out to destroy anything and everyone that associates themselves with God. The devil’s mission on earth is found in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary the Devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
No question about it. The devil is out to destroy every Christian. He has you in his crosshairs and is waiting for the right time to attack you. Be on your guard and fight him tooth and nail. Your spiritual life depends upon it!
