A Time To Read

You spent a good part of your education reading.  It does not matter if it was reading in elementary school, middle school, high school, or college, a good part of the educational process involved reading.  You had to read in the classroom and outside the classroom, too.  Reading is a part of the education process.

After you got out of school, or on break from school, a good part of your day was reading.  Maybe not reading books, but reading text on your phone, electronic tablet, and computer.  Reading is something that is a major part of your life.

To get the most out of reading, though, requires that you do read books.  The reading of books expands your mind and your thinking.  Joseph Addison says some wise words about reading to better yourself: “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.”  That being true, you can clearly see why reading is so important on a daily basis.

In your Christian life, it is so important that you continue to read and study your Bible.  No matter what phase of life you are in, Bible study is important.  For example, the apostle Paul is in prison.  He is awaiting execution.  He knows that his earthly time is about over any minute.  Look at his response to his friend and fellow worker in the ministry, “When you come bring the cloak which I left at Troas with Carpus, and the books, especially the parchments” (2 Timothy 4:13).  Can you believe it?  Here is Paul on death row and what does he want to do?  He wants the “books” and “parchments,” so he can study before entering those pearly gates.

Take every opportunity you have to read and study the Bible.  The time to read is now!  Blow the dust off your Bible, open up those pages stuck together, and study it!
