Daily Survival

You were told when you became a Christian, that you needed daily devotions.  That consists of time alone with God in prayer and reading His Word.  You did that for awhile, then your time became less and less.  Eventually, it became nonexistent.  Later, you started doing them again.

An unknown writer said, “The Bible should be read for daily use, not cake for special occasions of need.”  You need a daily intake of the Word of God.  Just as you need a certain amount of food to be eaten daily for your body, your soul and spirit need daily nourishment as well.  Without daily Bible readings, your spiritual body cannot function properly.  God becomes some distant Person.  Love and joy are a distant memory, when Bible reading ceases.

In the last book of the Bible, it culminates with a prophecy built upon the rest of the Bible.  At the conclusion of this earthly life, Christians will spend eternity in heaven.  Revelation 1:3 explains what believers are to do in anticipation of spending eternity in heaven: “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it, for the time is near.”  Scripture commands believers to read the Bible.  The reason for the reading is to “heed the things which are written it.”  You are to spend daily time reading.  You do not read for information only; you read to put into daily practice the things you learn from your reading.

Your survival is dependent upon daily time in the Book of books.  With daily intake it yields you effective as God’s tool to do His work, in and through you.  Remember, your daily Bible reading time is not just for knowledge, but is to put it into daily practice.  Put that daily survival kit into your daily practice!
