The culture in which you live focuses on prosperity. Everywhere you look the focus is on having money, and having lots of it. There seems to be some get rich scheme in every direction you turn. Becoming wealthy quickly covers things from real estate, to the stock market, to investing in gold, to get rich quick business deals.
The problem, with the society in which you live, is that although you receive riches, they do not follow you after death. Two friends met on the street. One said to the other, “Did you know that Sam died?” “Is that right? Did he leave anything?” “Yeah! Everything!” You get a good chuckle out of that. Although, it is funny, it carries a good message. Since all the riches you accumulate on earth, stay on earth, a better way to spend time on earth is to invest in eternal rewards.
The Word of God talks much about eternal rewards. It drives home the point, that life on earth is to be spent on storing up eternal rewards. One such verse is in Psalm 58:11, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous.” That reward is a heavenly reward. Over and over again, the Scriptures encourage you to live your life in such a way to gain eternal rewards versus earthly rewards.
So, how do you get rich? Not, by seeking to be wealthy on this earth. But by living a life that is well-pleasing to the Lord Jesus. To store up eternal rewards, means for you to find your spiritual gift and use it. In that way, you will be most effective in spiritual ministry. And, thus, be able to become rich in heaven.
Get started getting rich. Yes, getting rich with eternity in mind. This requires a shift in your mind set. As anyone who knows anything about getting rich will say, getting rich starts with setting your mind to be rich. Start that shift right now!
