Your Most Important Decision

Think for a few minutes about the most important decision you will make in your life.  You may say that it is where you will live.  You want to live near your family or friends.  Or you may say it is the occupation that you devote your entire life to being successful.  Or, perhaps, you say it is the person you marry; after all, you will spend the majority of your life on earth with that individual.

These are all important decisions.  They are not, however, your most important decision.  That most important decision in your life is the decision you make to become a Christian.  Phillips Brooks was once asked, “Is it necessary to have a personal experience of Christ to be a Christian?”  The great New England preacher paused and then made this reply, “My friend, a personal experience of Christ is Christianity.”  Accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior is the most important decision you will ever make.
The Scriptures say that life without accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior is eternal death.  When you accept Christ, you move from eternal death to eternal life.  “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

The above may be something that you need to do; if so, do it right now.  The above may be something you have already done.  In that case, let me ask you a simple question: what are doing for the kingdom of God in light of that decision?  The answer will reveal just how seriously you take the decision to follow Christ.

Your most important decision is to become a believer in Christ.  Knowing that you are a Christian, you need to search your inner being and see if you are a faithful believer in following His call on your life.  The answers to both of these questions will determine your heavenly rewards.
