That Decreasing Atturibute

Life seems to be getting worse and worse as time moves forward.  This is seen in the products you buy.  The manufacturers make products to be disposed of, instead of to be repaired.  Even the culture in which you live stresses  the attitude that all you need to do is just do enough to get by.  The attitude of doing your best, regardless, has somewhere faded into the past.

An elderly gentleman worked as a carpenter with diligence and great precision.  He explained why he spent so much time on each project.  “I learned long ago that speed should always be secondary to quality workmanship.  Years from now when I’m gone and people inspect what I am building today, no one will ask, “How long did this project take him?”  Instead, they’ll say, “Who made this?”  Now, that is truly what is important.  No matter what you do, you should do it the best you are capable of doing.  This in turn will turn into you doing quality work.

Spiritually, not only what you do, but the quality that you do it is what the Holy Bible stresses.  Yes, the things you do for the Lord Jesus are important, but also the quality in which you do them is what carries with it those eternal rewards.  1 Corinthians 3:13 clearly states this fact: “each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work.”  As comes to no surprise to you, what you do is of utmost importance for the kingdom of God.  Also, how well you carry out those eternal deeds, are of extreme importance, as well.

Do not take your marching orders from the society in which you live.  March to a loftier ambition to serve the Lord with the highest quality that you are capable of doing.  Like verse 13 says, “each man’s work” is important, but the “quality of each man’s work” also carries with it the eternal reward you will receive in heaven.  Remember, you just never know when you might hear that trumpet sound, and your accountability of your earthly life will soon follow.
