Doing Great Things

You have certain goals or ambitions that you want to accomplish in life.  They are realistic and make you do the things you want to do.  Your life is surrounded by decisions that either lead you to those goals or side track you from them.  What is it that makes a difference between you accomplishing those goals or not reaching them?  The most important decision you must make every day is your attitude.

Lou Holtz summarizes this when he stated, “Ability is what you are capable of doing.  Motivation determines what you do.  Attitude determines how well you do it.”  First, you must determine if you are able to accomplish the goal you are striving to complete.  If you are able, then you have the ability to do it.  The next gate you must go through is to evaluate if you are motivated enough to accomplish that goal.  Motivation comes from deep within your soul.  Once you are sufficiently motivated to accomplish that goal, how well you do it depends upon your attitude.

The Scriptures talk about you having the right attitude in Philippians 3:15, “Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you.”  Yes, this verse tells you that you are to have “this attitude” but exactly what is “this attitude”?  Just go back to the preceding verse, and it tells you, “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”  Thus, the attitude you are to have as a Christian is to keep pressing on day-in-and-day-out for those rewards that you will one day receive in heaven.

Seek as your main goal in life to put more jewels in your crown that you one day will receive by the Lord Jesus for your earthly pilgrimage.  There are no greater things you can do on earth than making it your goals for heavenly rewards.  Do great things and start today!
