Following Foot Steps

As a child you had someone you looked up to. You might even have emulated their speech, mannerisms, or their walk. When you grew up you wanted to be just like them. Today, there are probably one or maybe a few people that you truly admire. You wish you could be more like them. You may even find yourself, just like when you were a child, doing certain things the way they do them. That is why you need to be careful how you live your life, because more than likely there is someone who uses you as an example of how they live their life.

You know you should not look toward others or compare yourself to others. Even though this is a fact, it is hard at time to keep yourself from comparing. Comparing is not a good thing, but having good people in your life to emulate is a good thing. Knowing that you are an example to someone else, should inspire you to be all you can be so that you are a good example to others. Albert Schweitzer has some tremendous advice to remember: “Example is not the main thing in influencing others. It is the only thing.”

You should strive to be a good example to your kids and to your grandkids, especially, but you should even be more concerned about being a good Godly example to them. As you know, some people may see your life as the only Bible they will ever experience in their life. So be a good example.

The Lord Jesus lived a sinless life while on this earth. You know that He is the One you need to look at to determine how to live your life on earth. But you may ask, how do I know He should be my example? The answer is written in John 13:15, after Jesus washes His disciples feet, where He tells His disciples, and indirectly you and me: “For I have given you an example that you should do as I did to you.” Yes, in essence, Jesus is telling us do as He does; this is the way you are to live your life.

Jesus is your example on how to daily live. Emulate Jesus!!
