The Key To Making An Impact

You are a Christian and you want to make an impact for Jesus Christ. What is the key to making an impact for Christ in your daily life? The key seems to lie in doing God’s will in your life daily. The Lord Jesus has a plan for your life, and when you follow His plan, then making an impact for Him is inevitable.

To get an understanding of doing God’s will in your life requires getting some sound advice from someone who has made an impact for Christ. When someone complimented J. Hudson Taylor on the work of the China Inland Mission that he had founded, he said, “It seemed to me that God had looked over the whole world to find a man who was weak enough to do His work, and when He at last found me, He said, ‘He is weak enough—he’ll do.’ All God’s giants have been weak men who did great things for God because they reckoned on His being with them.” This is the answer, but what did Taylor mean when he said, “All God’s giants have been weak men?” He is not talking about being physically, emotionally, or mentally weak. He is talking about being weak in spirit. A spirit that does not depend upon doing God’s work in any other way but God’s way.

The Lord Jesus, Himself, told us in Scripture what Taylor is talking about when he says, “weak men.” In Luke 9:23-24 our Lord states it thus: “And He was saying to them all, ‘If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny Himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it.’” Notice the two commands: “take up His cross daily” and “follow Me.” To take up one’s cross requires us to become weak to our desires and wants and become strong in obeying what the Lord tells us to do. Next, He says, “follow Me.”

So, the key to making an impact for Christ in your life is to die to your own personal wants and desires and obey Christ fully. Follow Christ today!
