To use time wisely starts with a realization that you must use your time to its fullest. You come to grips that you do not have forever to do the things you need to on this earth. In other words, you need to go about busily completing important tasks.
You may want to just relax and wait until tomorrow to do what is on your mind today. After all, you are tired today. You just want to take it easy today. An unknown writer expressed his words on getting things done by saying: “We’ll never leave any footprints in the sands of time by sitting down.” He is telling you to get up and do what needs to be done. Do it now, instead of later.
The Holy Bible talks much about being about the work that Christ has for you to do. It leaves no wiggle room for being complacent. One such verse makes that point loud and clear: “so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all aspects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10; NASV). Notice the progression. You are to walk in a manner that is Christ-like. You do that so that your life is one that pleases the Lord. And how do you do that? By having a fruitful life, which is accomplished by doing good works. Your life is a life to be lived by doing one good work after another that pleases Christ.
Your time on earth is limited. In fact, it is short. So, you must do all you can do within that minuscule time of your earthly existence. Using time wisely means going about doing the work Christ has set aside for you to do.
And how do you know what work to do? By living by the Scriptures and asking Christ to show you the work He has for you to do. That is using time wisely!
