What Are You Accomplishing?

You wake up every morning and go through your daily routine. It may be going to work, doing housework, daily tasks around the house, going to school, or whatever. The question is not asking what you do, but what are you accomplishing. What are you accomplishing by doing your daily tasks?

I have no doubt that you stay as busy as you want to do doing your daily tasks. But stop and ask yourself what am I accomplishing? Indira Gandhi says it straight: “My grandfather once told me that there are two types of people: those who do the work and those who take the credit. He told me to try to be in the first group; there was less competition there.” Now, that fairly well summarizes almost everyone. Which one are you? Be honest now. This takes a deep, down, honest evaluation of your life.

The Holy Bible encourages believers to be honest, hard-working people. People who work hard for their families and for the service of God’s kingdom work while on earth. Let no one fool you; both are very important. Most people work hard to supply for their family needs. They know that if food, clothing, and shelter are to be provided, it depends upon them to make it happen. What concerns me is that a lot of Christians work hard for earthly treasures but have little or no concern for spiritual treasures. How hard do you work toward serving Christ daily?

This boils down to how faithfully you live your life by the Word of God. These are words of life. They are not only words of eternal life, but also, words to tell you how to live here on earth. That is why the Scriptures call them “the word of life,” because they explain everything needed to live a successful life. Philippians 2:16 puts it this way, “holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may have cause to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.” To summarize, you daily live by the Holy Bible, so that when you get to heaven, you will find out that you did not waste your time on only earthly accomplishments but you also lived for Christ.

Let’s make it your goal to daily accomplish living rightly by living by the Scriptures! Start today! Start now!
