Those Pearly Whites

When you meet someone, what is the first thing that you usually notice? Their dress? Their hair? How tall or short they are? We obviously see all these things the instant we lay our eyes on them. But I believe the most outstanding feature we look for in others, as well as others look for in us, at first glance in how much of a smile we have. The smile is sometimes referred to as the window to the soul. An inward joy of the Lord just naturally expresses itself in a smile.

Nothing on earth can smile but man. Gems may flash reflected light, but what is the diamond flash compared with a smile in the light of a window of the face by which the heart signifies it is at home and waiting (Henry Ward Beecher). Yes, the outward smile is the reflection of the joyful inward heart.

We all know we cannot go around all day smiling. There are troubled waters we have to cross to bring us to our heavenly destination. No one is exempt. If Jesus being God in the flesh had to undergo troubled times during His time on earth, why should we as His disciples think that we do not have to go through troubled times. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Ps. 30:5). And may I add along with a joyful heart comes a big ole country smile.

Let’s approach each new day with a smile on our face showing those big, pearly whites!!!!
