As you go about your daily activities, you are able to accomplish daily activities that come your way. If some task comes up where you are unable to do it on your own, you have friends and colleagues to come to the rescue. Thus, you are fairly self-sufficient.
This is all well and done, until you come to your spiritual life. Your spiritual walk with God can only be accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit. You must depend totally upon Him to live the victorious Christian life. D. L. Moody, an evangelist of the last century greatly used by God, knew too well that principle. He said it this way, “You might as well try to hear without ears, or breathe without lungs, as try to live a Christian life without the Spirit of God in your heart.” Yes, the Holy Spirit is essential to Godly living. You must have the Holy Spirit within you, and also, live obediently to His leading in your life.
How exactly does the Holy Spirit assist the believer in his/her Christian life? The Holy Bible is not silent on this issue. Jesus told His disciples, and us as well, what the ministry of the Holy Spirit is in your life. He said in John 14:26, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all I said to you.” First, notice that the Holy Spirit is the Helper. He helps you in Jesus’ absence. Second, notice that “He will teach you all things.” Every insight you gain in the Scriptures comes directly from the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. Lastly, the Holy Spirit fills your mind with Jesus’ teaching or the Scriptures.
Even though you have people to assist you in worldly decisions, your needed help in the spiritual realm is via the Holy Spirit. Listen and obey to the Spirit’s leading!
