That Grey Matter

You have some grey matter in your head called your brain.  Everyone has a certain amount of it.  What matters most is how you use it.  You may think that you were required to use it in school, so now that you can do your own thing, you do not have to expand your thinking.

The mind is like the stomach.  It is not how much you put into it that counts, but how much it digests.  The fact that you decide to fill your brain with a lot of information, is not all that important.  The goal is not to see how much information you can store.  Although, a certain amount must be learned.  The goal is to take what you have learned and put it into action in your daily life.  Application versus mere information is what is desired.

The Holy Bible was written as guide book as to how to live on earth and get the very best out of that pilgrimage.  As you might guess, the key to getting the best out of your life on earth requires correct thinking.  Romans 12:2 gives you the secret to joyful earthly living and abundant heavenly living: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”  Notice, right out of the gate that your life must consist of heavenly thinking, not earthly thinking.  This happens when you “transform” your mind.  Thus, to live for heaven, requires you learn to fill your mind with heavenly thoughts.  This happens by meditating on Scripture.

Use your grey matter wisely.  When meditating on Scripture, more is much better than less.  Mull over in your mind the verses that help you to live a Godlier life. It is a good reminder, that your home is not here on earth but is in heaven.

To amass a large amount of information is not the most important use of your mind.  Remember, it is the application, instead, that you should most desire.
