Killing That Giant

In your Christian life, Satan hurls a lot of darts at you which accounts for many monsters for you to kill.  You have that sin which seems to linger.  You gain victory over it for a while, but it just keeps coming back.  It seems to come into your life, when you are the most vulnerable.

There is one giant that looms behind every corner of your life; it is the giant of discouragement.  You get discouraged when that sin that will never go away lurks again in your life.  The giant of discouragement seems to raise its ugly head around every corner of your life.  Just about time your spiritual life is going well, then discouragement erects its ugly head to bring you to defeat.

S. Lewis wrote many books, and is someone to get you to thinking when you read one of his numerous Christian books. He said this: “If Satan’s arsenal of weapons were restricted to a single one, it would be discouragement.”  If Satan can keep you discouraged, then he can keep you from accomplishing what God directed you to do.

One Bible character who really knew what it felt like to be discouraged was David.  Before he became king, he was hunted by King Saul.  King Saul wanted David’s head.  He hunted David down and chased David like a hound does a fox.  The pursuit was relentless.  David expressed in the Psalms the heartache of King Saul’s relentless pursuit.  After the pursuit was over, David says in Psalm 18:1-2: “I love you, O Lord, my strength.  The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

To kill that giant of discouragement in your life, claim the message David claimed in Psalm 18:1-2.  Your defeat of discouragement, lies in you changing your mental perspective.  Thunk!  That giant just hit the ground dead.
