You have a direct communication line to the God who created the universe and everything in it. He stands at your beckon and call to answer your every request. God loves to answer your prayers that gives Him glory and shows the world that He takes cares of His children.
Thus, be careful what you pray for. Ralph Waldo Emerson addressed a graduating class at Harvard University by stating: “Young men, be careful what you want, for you will surely get it.” What he told that graduating class, could also be applied to prayer. You often get what you pray for, so be careful how you pray. When I pastored one church, the pianist told me that what I preached on about being careful what you pray for is absolutely true. She told of her mother being very sick and prayed that the Lord would not take her, but that she would live. The Lord answered her request. Her mother lived but was not aware of her surrounding or able to recognize anyone. The pianist was sorry she asked her mother to live, as she was alive but only existing. The pianist affirmed that you need to be careful what you pray for, since God may grant your request. After God answers your request, you may regret it.
Jesus talked about answered prayers, when He said the following: “And all thing you ask in prayer, believing, and you will receive it.” The Lord wants to answer your every request. He delights in giving His children the answers to prayers that they pray.
Yes, God answers your prayers. Be careful what you pray for, because you may get the prayer answered, but regret it later. Use wisdom in your requests. A good way to close all your prayers is the same way our Lord prayed in the garden of Gethsemane: “Father, not my will, but your will be done” (Matt. 26:39, 42, 44).
Pray often to your Lord and King, but be careful what you pray for Him to answer.
