How to do Great Things

You want to be a success in life.  You want to have a marriage that is fulfilling, a job that is satisfying, a relationship with Jesus that brings peace, friends that are a joy to be around, etc.  In a nut shell, you want all of life on earth to bring satisfaction and contentment.

What is the key to your wanting total fulfillment in life?  Charles Schwab, the man to whom Andrew Carnegie paid a million dollars a year because of his ability to motivate people, once said, “A man can succeed at almost anything for which he has unlimited enthusiasm.”  Think that last sentence over a second or two.  Yes, “any task or relationship” you have can be successful when you approach it with enthusiasm.  The more enthusiasm you have for that occasion, the more you will succeed at it.

The Scriptures talk a lot about joy and having a joy that is overflowing.  Joy and enthusiasm work hand-in-hand with one another.  When you get enthusiastic about something, then your joy over that increases proportionately, as well.  In Bible terms, to increase your enthusiasm, you must increase you joy about it.  Isaiah talks about this in chapter 61 verse 7, when he says, “Everlasting joy will be theirs.”  Talking of the blessings of joy that are available to you, the preceding part of that verse reads, “Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land.”  That is joy magnified.

In your marriage, at work, your relationship with friends, in that teaching of the Scriptures, and in fact, in all of life, learn to approach all of it with a deep sense of enthusiasm.  When you do, you will notice that everything becomes more enjoyable to you.  Also, your impact on those areas of life will become much more profound.

Now, go and attack all of life with enthusiasm!
