Pastor’s Pen
There is a place where we can go and get away from all of life’s troubles, if but for a short time; the place is the church of the living God. Yes, every Sunday we get away from the routine of our lives and focus our attention on heavenly thoughts. We all have a part of the worship service that each of us partakes in each Sunday.
We support each other each week by praying for one another and even our mere presence can offer encouragement to those around us. The article “What Good Is A Tree?” in Reader’s Digest explained that when the roots of trees touch, there is a substance present that reduces competition. In fact, this unknown fungus helps link roots of different trees—even of dissimilar species. A whole forest may be linked together. If one tree has access to water, another to nutrients, and a third to sunlight, the trees have the means to share with one another. Like trees in a forest, Christians in the church need and support one another.
Christians in the church offer much to each other and to the worship service each Sunday. As we know, Jesus is the head of the church and tells us what we are to do with each other. “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ” (Eph. 4:15). Since Jesus is the head of the church, we need to encourage each other lovingly each Sunday.
Let’s encourage each other, lovingly, in church today!
