You have been told so many times to have patience and wait upon the Lord. You are reminded to sit back and wait for the Lord God to open the right door for you. There is definitely a time to wait on God’s leading in your life. There is, also, a time to take action. Only the Lord’s guiding in your life will reveal which one of those two paths to follow.
If the truth is told, too many Christians are waiting for just that “perfect” opportunity to open, when they need to be moving forward to accomplish God’s will for their life. This may apply to you. You can feel the Holy Spirit’s promptings in your life and know biblically it is the right thing to do, only to fall prey to not talking action. Lorne Sanny of the Navigators said his father told him all his instruction to Lorne could be summarized in four words: “Get with it, Son.” Notice, “Son” is capitalized. What his father is saying is for Lorne to do is to start right now and do what the Son (Jesus Christ) is telling you to do. Now, that is some sound advice.
Getting with it is just what the Scriptures record Jesus telling His disciples, and you and me, to start doing right now. Jesus’ last words to believers before leaving earth and going to be with the Father in heaven is recorded in Matthew 28:19-20, and starts out with— “Go therefore and make disciples…”. This is known as the Great Commission. Ask anyone familiar with his/her Bible and he/she will tell you the emphasis in the verses is to “make disciples.” This is a fact, but so often the first word is totally disregarded in the verse. Verse 19 starts out with, “Go”. Thus, the emphasis of making disciples is to be done, not by some random haphazard way, but with a laser focused determination to go into your world and make it happen.
Right now is the time to get off the dime, and go and do whatever God is telling you to do. Just, “Get with it, Son!”
