Pastor’s Pen
Think for a second or two about the people in your life who have make an impact on you. Think about their personal qualities. They were probably known for a lot of characteristics. We need to think about how we can emulate their impact on our lives, so we in turn can impact others.
John Wesley was a great theologian, pastor, and writer of yesteryear. He had a large impact on a lot of people. When he thought of doing good for others, he wrote: “Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.” If we live by Wesley’s advice the world would be a better place, and we would enjoy life more, ourselves.
The Bible is full of verses telling us to help others and to do good for them. Scripture, not only exhorts us to do good, but also tells us that the Lord helps us to do it. Galatians 5:22-23 gives us the fruit of the Spirit. These are spiritual gifts that are given to each believer at the time he/she accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Among the list includes “kindness” and “goodness.” Yes, the Holy Spirit empowers us with the spiritual gift of being able to do good for others.
So let’s go out into our world in which we live and spread some kindness and good blessing to those whom we meet. Remember, we are supernaturally enabled to do it!!!
