How To Be Successful

Your focus on being a successful person may have started in childhood prior to attending school.  If it did not start there, then when you went to school, your focus on being successful became evident.  In school there was a focus on grades and achievement to be the best in the class.  An attitude of competition between you and others in your class and/or siblings compelled you to be the best; thus, an emphasis on being successful.

You may not feel like you are or ever have been very successful.  Robert H. Schuller, when talking about this topic, had this to say, “Most people who succeed in the face of seemingly impossible situations are people who seemingly don’t know how to quit.”  So often you probably fail at doing something you want to succeed at, because you just gave up too soon.  Many authors who discuss success, have the exact same philosophy as Schuller; just put your nose to the grindstone and never give up.

The Scriptures speak loud and clear about this, as well.  2 John 8 puts it this way, “Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.”  In saying, “Watch yourselves,” the Scriptures is saying that you should stick with it and keep doing the things that you know that you need to keep doing.  In other words, it agrees with Schuller, that you “don’t know how to quit.”  No matter how difficult life may become, you keep doing the things that bring glory to God.  If you persevere, the result will be “that you may receive a full reward.”  Yes, earthly life is not the goal of the Christian.  The Christian looks forward to eternity in heaven and lives his/her life accordingly to “receive a full reward” in heaven.

So, the key on how to be successful is just plain and simple—never, ever give up.  Your reward in heaven is waiting for you!
