Pastor’s Pen
By Dr. Robin Brumfield
We all like new things. We like it when we get a new car, new clothes, a new child or grandchild, and on and on it goes. There is something fresh about the newness in our lives, as we undergo change that the Holy Spirit brings our way, as well. Much of what we experience from our day-to-day experience involves something new.
Once an Indian came to America and wanted something new in his life—to become a citizen of the United States. “I will change my name.” But he still was an Indian. Then he changed his dress, but he was still an Indian. Next, he learned the language of the American, but he still was an Indian. You see he wanted so badly for something new to happen in his life, but it could not until he became a citizen of the USA. We all want something new to happen in our life. It may be a new job, a new word from the Lord, a new principle to live by. There is just something refreshing about the new things of life.
The Lord God loves new events. He created something new out of nothing; He creates new life in Jesus Christ when we become a disciple of Christ. In fact, the Lord God wanted to know so much that He likes new things, that he recorded it in His Holy Word: “Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth: shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isa. 43:19).
That brings us to a probing question—what new thing do you want the Lord to do in your life? Since He is the giver of life and of everything that is new, let’s seek Him to find out what He wants us to have that is new.
The creator of everything that is new wants to bestow on you something new!! Don’t be surprised if something new suddenly appears in your life from the Father!!!!
