True Worth Of Anything

You may sit back and admire a tapestry that someone has made, or an automobile that is exquisite, or food that tastes out-of-this-world.  What do all these have in common?  Quality.  When the rubber meets the road in any area of life, the bottom line is: what is the quality of the item?  A diamond may be huge but worth very little, because of too many imperfections.  Likewise, a much smaller diamond may be priceless, because there are very few imperfections.  A high quality, usually, costs more than one with a lower quality.  To a large degree, as quality goes up so does the price.

An elderly man once worked as a carpenter with diligence and great precision.  He explained why he spent so much time on each project.  “I learned a long time ago that speed should be secondary to quality workmanship.  Years from now when I am gone and people inspect what I am building today, no one will ask, ‘How long did this project take him?’  Instead, they’ll ask, ‘Who made this?’”  Now, that is worth mulling over in your mind for a while.  When you work on anything, keep in mind that the quality in which you complete whatever the task is at hand should far outweigh the speed in which it is done.  Never, substitute speed for quality.

This is especially true as it relates to the work you do for the kingdom of God.  Quality makes all the difference in the world.  When talking about the heavenly rewards 1 Corinthians 3:13 puts it this way, “each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work.”  The emphasis for the rewards you will receive in heaven is based solely upon the quality of your work.  When in heaven, no one is going to care how long a specific work of yours took; what the Lord and everyone else will care about is the quality of your work.  Put a little more quality into everything you do.
