You may plan your daily tasks by using a day planner or a calendar. The truth is that you use something to remind you of important events in your life. This may be events that need doing daily or events you have planned sometime in the future. Your life depends upon you doing certain things and keeping track of them which is important.
For the Christian, the focus of your life hinges upon Christ coming back to earth for His followers. When this event is ignored, life seems routine and mundane. The New Testament and early first-century Christians proclaimed the imminence of Christ’s return.
Plan as though Christ is not coming for ten years. Live as though He were coming in ten seconds. Jesus is coming one day to call you home to heaven. Thus, you need to be prepared.
Paul wrote to the Christians in Thessalonica to encourage them with the assurance that Jesus is coming back to earth one day. He explains the Lord’s return in 1 Thess. 4:16, “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout.” Yes, Jesus is coming back. It is a biblical fact.
Since the Lord is coming back, unannounced, the way you plan and live your day should be carried out with this in mind. Life has many demands upon your life. You have many things that demand your attention. Yes, you are to perform those tasks as best you can.
Realizing that the Lord is returning any moment, makes life on earth is so temporal. You sing the hymn, “This World Is Not My Home.” It continues with the words, “I am just passing through.” Sometimes, it is good to remind yourself of that fact,
Plan your day and with your planning keep ever mindful that earth is not your home; you are just passing through until you meet Jesus. That trumpet sound may occur any second.
