Hopefully, you have not been beat up by life so long and so hard that you no longer have dreams. Dreams give you something to live for. They give meaning to everyday daily living. Dreams should not be some vague thought in never-never land. Dreams are to be some goal that you have that is attainable. Just how or when that dream becomes a reality, only God knows.
Oliver Wendell Homes talked about making goals a reality when he stated, “I find the great thing in this world is not where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.” Where you stand in life right now is not near as important as the direction in which you are going. The direction you are going reveals where you will end up if you continue along your present path.
For the Christian, one dream you have is be in heaven one day and spend eternity with loved ones and with Jesus. Philippians 3:14 states your ultimate goal in life, “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” That dream will one day become a reality for the child of God
To accomplish your dream of being in heaven, or any other dream, certain steps must be followed. First, you must be “forgetting what lies behind” (Phil. 3:13). That is all the past garbage of failures, disappointments, or anything that will distract you from meeting your goal. Next, you must be “reaching forward to what lies ahead” (Phil. 3:13). You must do like Oliver Wendell Homes said and move into the direction that will complete your goal.
As you follow this recipe for making dreams come true, you will find that life is more meaningful and enjoyable. After all, dreams do actually come true. Dream on!
