A popular Christian quote, that was first uttered by Michael W. Smith, is “God is God, and you are not.” That simple phrase is full of biblical theology. It is true in so many areas of life. Let’s look at one area; God is all knowing and has wisdom far, far beyond the human understanding.
God’s wisdom confounds the human intellect but is so simple that even the unlearned can understand it. Why is this so? Because God’s wisdom is spiritually discerned and not learned through human striving and pursuits. God is wise, and you know His wisdom by a relationship with Him. Worldly books will never yield a Godly wisdom.
Since God is wise, beyond human understanding, often man tries to understand life with human reasoning. This results in man realizing that God is God and he is not. A man was questioning God’s arrangement of the universe. He said, “Why does God make a big tree with small nuts, and a small plant with large watermelons. It doesn’t make sense.” Just then a nut fell out of the tree and hit him on the head. He said, “Thank God that wasn’t a watermelon!” Ha! Ha! Often you may wonder exactly why God does this thing or that. Upon further investigation, you learn that the enigma you perceived is actually something that makes perfect sense. God’s ways are always the wisest ways.
There is One and only One wise God. He rules in the heavens, but His dominion covers the whole earth, as well. Scripture affirms this fact: “to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen.” (Romans 16:27). Yep, there is no doubt about it; God is “the only wise God.”
So, if God is God, and you are not, then you need to lay all the plans of your life before Him. He is “the only wise God” and knows exactly what is best for you. Seek His wisdom through prayer and be thankful large trees do not bear watermelons!
