You go to church every Sunday. You read your Bible almost every day, and if you read it daily you feel you are excelling in the Christian life. A lot of times you wonder what is the use of being faithful to the Lord. You know the Lord Jesus is watching, but often think that the way you live your life means no one is watching. The saying, “You may be the only Bible that someone sees,” seem trite, but it is a fact. There is no one in the kingdom of God that can claim the title of the Lone Ranger Christian. You have a sphere of influence that is far greater then you will ever know this side of heaven.
My life shall touch a thousand lives before this day is done, leave countless marks for good or ill ere sets the evening sun. This is the wish I always wish; the prayer I always pray: Lord, may my life touch other lives it touches by the way. Now, that prayer should motivate you to realize that your life will impact others. The question is not whether you will influence others or not; the question is whether your influence will be good or bad.
The Scriptures reveals to believers the correct behavior that a Christian should have. Knowing that some kind of spiritual behavior will be witnessed by others, it gives some instruction how you should live your life. “Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works” (1 Tim. 6:18a). This verse tells you to “do good” but goes on to say “to be rich in good works.” Why should you do that? Because God knows that other people are looking at your life, and how you handle the arrows that daily trials and temptations bring your way, has heavenly and earthly rewards.
Thus, the anonymous Christian does not exist. You must live your life daily for the glory of God being “rich in good works.” Know that someone is watching you!
