You like to start new things. There is a sense of refreshment and vigor when you start something new. There is also a sense of intense fulfillment and accomplishment when the tasks you started have been faithfully accomplished over the years. The fact that you have continued to work and complete a task with your best ability gives you much satisfaction.
Often times the sticking to a task over time brings with it a degree of mental reservation. You work and work to bring about the glory of God in being consistent to do your best, and you feel that there is just so much more that you would like to accomplish. John Haggai tells the story of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church, this way: “John Wesley traveled on horseback the equivalent of ten times around the world’s equator. He preached as often as fifteen times a week for fifty years. He authored more publications than any writer in the English language until the contemporary science fiction author Isaac Asimov. He read books while making his horseback journeys. When he was past eighty, he complained that he could not read and work more than fifteen hours a day.” You may feel that you do not have the stamina that you had in days gone by.
Be of good courage. The Scriptures have some encouraging words for you. David wrote a Psalm and in it he gives you some words of encouragement: “And lovingkindness is Thine, O Lord, for Thou dost recompense a man according to his work” (62:12). Yes, do not think that the Lord God does not remember all the work you have done for His name. No matter how young or old you are the work you have done for the Lord is remembered by Him.
So pick yourself up and continue to do what you are able and called to do for the Lord. The ministry you have continued to do still needs doing. Be faithful and continue your service to the best of your ability.
Blessings and rewards await you. Be faithful and continue in you ministry to the Lord!
