No question about it. One of the most popular topics among Americans is the topic of success. Go to any bookstore or go to amazon.com and search the key word “success” and a ton of books will become visible. Not only is success a hot topic in written literature, but also look at the vast number of seminars on being successful. It is staggering.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to use your time wisely while here on earth. The wise use of one’s time implies that to do this you must be successful. To succeed in life you must seize every opportunity that lends itself to you and make the most of it. Of course, wise time management helps tremendously but if you do not seize and accomplish the best that each opportunity in life brings you, then you will not be successful. Thus, to be successful in life boils down to a large degree on seizing and doing the best you can with every opportunity that arises in your life.
Bernard Gittelson definitely had the right idea in mind when he penned these words: “The Chinese call luck opportunity, and they say it knocks every day at your door. Some people hear it; some do not. It’s not enough to hear opportunity knock. You must let him in, greet him, make friends, and work together.” Stop one minute and re-read those words slowly; let them sink deep within your soul. The truth is that every day opportunity knocks at your door, but it is up to you to recognize it and use it to make your life successful. It is not a matter of waiting for the right moment, but seizing the right moment every day when it appears.
The Book of books, the Holy Bible, encourages you to do exactly that. Paul in writing to the Galatians encourages them to be successful in their Christian life: “And not let us lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary (6:9).” In other words, you are making the most of your time and are successful in what you are doing, so keep up the good work and continue on being successful.
You know you want to be successful in many areas of your life. So now let’s look for those opportunities that arise to make you successful every day and implement them into your life. Stop. Answer that knock at your door; I do believe that it is that opportunity you have been waiting on!
