You start going to school at a young age and continue going to school for a long time. The end point for your schooling may be high school, college, graduate school, which may even include a doctoral degree. No matter how much education you have all throughout life, there always seems like there is something else to learn.
What is puzzling is that the more you seem to dig into a subject to learn all you can learn, the more it seems that you have to learn. Will Durant hit the nail on the head, when he spoke about learning a specific subject: “Sixty years ago I knew everything; now I know nothing; education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance.” The longer you live, the truer that statement is of your life, too. About the time in your life when your pimples dry up, you start losing your hair, and all that knowledge you thought you knew, goes right out the window. With age you realize that you just are not as wise as you thought you were when you were younger.
Although you never know all there is to know about your Bible, and specifically about Jesus Christ, you are encouraged to pursue to know Him better. In the only verse in the whole Bible where Jesus talks about Himself, He challenges you to learn more about Him. “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:29; NASV). Tucked away in that verse you find, “learn from Me.” How refreshing! Learning from Christ is definitely a life-long pursuit. But notice the rewards of such a pursuit – “you will find rest for your souls.”
Christ is that best teacher. Make it a habit daily to learn from Him. Seek Christ today and every day!
