Dealing With Difficult Verses

As you study your Bible, you come across some verses that just do not make sense to you.  You read them over and over again, but still you do not understand them.  Even when time passes between your reading of certain verses, they still confuse you.

As you study your Bible, certain verses will need some clarification.  An unknown author gives a thought that helps when you encounter such verses: “It is far better to practice the things that are revealed than to speculate or argue over the truths that have not been revealed.”  That is some sound words worth living.  Do not spend a lot of time trying to understand the infinite.  Spend your time putting the verses you do know into daily practice.

In a letter that Peter wrote, he talks about several cities he has visited, then he states: “according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Christ Jesus and be sprinkled with His blood; May grace and peace be your in the fullest measure” (1 Peter 1:2; NASV). What is his objective?  It is “to obey Christ Jesus.”  His focus, and yours also, must be to live a life that is in obedience to Christ.  It is interesting to note that the means of living for Christ comes from the “work of the Holy Spirit.”  It is the Spirit that gives you the power to live a life that honors Jesus.

Be a student of the Word of God.  Know that some verses will be hard to understand.  Focus your attention on the verses you do understand.  That focus in not to learn them for information, but to let those verses change the way you live.

Instead of dealing with difficult verses, put the verses you know into daily practice!  Live for Christ daily!
