You live your life on a battle field. The world in which you daily reside, is one skirmish after another. Your sinful nature fights against the spiritual nature within you. Living on planet earth has one temptation after another. To add to your frustration, neither your flesh nor the world ever lets up. About the time one battle is won, another comes right behind it. This war seems to never end.
To win the war, requires us to keep up our faith. Augustine said it well, when he said: “Faith is to believe what we do not see. The reward of faith is to see what we believe.” Think about that for a moment. Your faith is based on something your eyes cannot see. And the fruit of having such a faith, is that one day you will receive what you hope to see one day.
The Holy Bible discusses this, also. “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith” (1 John 5:4; NKJV). This verse tells you, and anyone else, that you can win the battle that you face daily. How? By simply exercising your faith. But what are you to have faith in? That life will get better? That good always prevails over evil.? What exactly must you do to win that battle? The next verse answers those questions: “Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” By putting your faith in Christ as the Son of God, you win the battle.
Winning the worldly battle is done only though faith in Christ. Christ is the Son of God. As God’s Son, He had only one main purpose in coming to earth. That was to die on a cross for the forgiveness of your sins.
Win the worldly battle every day of your life by living by faith in the power of Christ! Be triumphant!
