The Spiritual Instructor

You go to school to have teachers instruct you in the area(s) in which they are trained.  Those teachers have studied much to gain knowledge in those areas.  Then they have, also, learned how to communicate that information to you, so you can retain it.

When that is applied to the spiritual realm, you have teachers there, also.  They are Sunday School teachers, Bible teachers, and pastors that instruct you in Bible teaching.  Hopefully, they teach more than Bible information.  Hopefully, they give you practical application in how to live daily for Christ.

You may think that the learning of Bible knowledge depends entirely upon your gaining knowledge of the Bible.  Although that is important, you need spiritual eyes and ears to obtain what Christ wants you to learn.  It is said that a certain guide lived in the deserts of Arabia who never lost his way.  He carried with him a homing pigeon with a very fine cord attached to one of its legs.  When in doubt to which path to take, he threw the bird into the air.  The pigeon quickly strained at the cord to fly in the direction of home, and thus led the guide accurately to his goal.  Because of this unique practice he was called “the dove man.”  So, too, the Holy Spirit, the heavenly Dove, is willing and able to direct us in the narrow way that leads to the more abundant life.  This happens as  you in humble self-denial submit to His unerring supervision.

The Holy Spirit will lead you, but will also teach you the Scriptures.  “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26; NKJV).  Let Him be your spiritual instructor!
