Truth Or Consequences

As you read the title today, what do you think about?  Do you think that there are consequences behind all your bad decisions?  Does it instill in you the great need in life to always tell the truth?  What exactly are your thoughts?

One thing it means, spiritually, is the great need to be truthful in all your doings.  When you are not, you can expect that life will bring you trials and tribulations.  Teen Esteem said it well, when it stated: “it isn’t what happens; it’s how you deal with it that is important.”  Wow!  There is so truth in that statement.  Doing the right thing or not doing the right thing, is not the most important concern. How you deal with your actions is critical.

The Scriptures are so practical.  That is one of the reasons I love them.  They do not offer some platitudes that are not associated with daily living.  They see life as it is on earth, and tell you how to handle them.  Christ knew that sometimes you will blow it.  You try as hard as you can to live a Godly life, but them you blow it.  The Word of God gives wise counsel at that time: “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.  But let patience have its perfect work that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing” (James 1:2-4; NKJV).  It is noteworthy to observe that these verses are talking to you about the trials you are entering.  It is not discussing the results following trials.  The time you need to take action is when you are undergoing trials.  A correct response to those trials yields a life that is “perfect and complete.”

When you are dealing with life events that are “truth or consequences,” know they are for your benefit.  With each trial, you can grow more spiritual.  Live by the Book!
