Whose Shadow Are You?

You like to think that you do more good than bad. That, at the end of each day, if you tallied your good deeds, they would outnumber your bad deeds. The fact be told, you probably don’t have any or at least many very bad deeds each day. You probably live a fairly moderate lifestyle of being a good person and citizen. Therein lies the rub; you can become complacent with a mediocre life not really accomplishing much but not really doing much harm either. There is not much difference in your life than there is in anyone else’s life, including the unbeliever.

I like a little story I recently read. A mother was telling her little boy what manner of person a Christian should be. When the lesson was finished, the mother got a stab she never forgot, when her boy asked seriously, “Mother, have I ever seen a Christian?” Ouch! Now you know that mom must have taken several steps backward emotionally, as her son did not even know if his mom was a Christian. What about you? If you were that mom or dad asking the question, would your son or daughter know that you are a Christian? The fact is, YOU are the best Christian someone knows. That is a somber fact for some and a super fact for others. Only you know the answer in your own life.

Jesus, being the Master Teacher that He was, did not tell us to figure out on your own how one is to live his/her life while on planet earth. He gave you and me specific guidelines on how He expected us to live our lives. He told us: “For I gave you an example that you should do as I did to you” (John 13:15). Jesus was talking to his disciples and indirectly to you. He said that He was the One you are to use as the example to follow in your daily activities. You are to emulate the Lord Jesus in all your activities each and every day.

That leads you to answer the question at the title of this blog: whose shadow are you? Remember, YOU are the best Christian someone knows. Let’s live accordingly!
