As you think of heaven, many thoughts come to mind. You think of aches and pains that exist on earth, that will be gone forever in heaven. You look forward to that deceased relative or friend that made a huge Christian impact in your life; you will see them again. As you read through the book of Revelation, you notice you will have a crown with jewels in it to cast before the feet of Christ. The more your heavenly rewards, then the more jewels in your crown.
How can you increase those heavenly rewards? It is not by working yourself to death doing things in the church. It is not staying so busy, that you are exhausted or near a heart attack. John D. Rockefeller, Jr. has some wise words to assist you in storing up heavenly rewards: “The secret of success is to do the common things uncommonly well.” It is not by how many spiritual grand slams you made. Just plain and simple, be faithful in doing the simple things well.
Christ knew the importance of being faithful. He was faithful to accomplish all that the Father gave Him to do. Nothing was not accomplished that the Father told him to do. Passing on His desire to accomplish what needs to be done, Christ said, “And He said to him, ‘well done, good servant: because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities’” (Luke:19:17, NKJV). The important part of this verse lies in the words – “because you were faithful in a very little.” Christ does not want every Christian to be a superstar Christian. Christ dishes out what He wants you to do. Do not think because you don’t accomplish huge things for Christ that you will not receive a big heavenly reward.
All Christ wants is faithful servants. He wants you to be faithful in the small things. Leave the rewards to Him!
