Following Through

It is very easy to start a task.  You can take a few minutes and begin something new.  Starting something is relatively easy.  Many people start the Christian life, but few are those that stay on course and finish well.  You have begun your journey with Christ, but how are you doing with staying on course?  Are you as excited about Christ today, as the day you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior?

To stay on course with your faith takes work.  It does not just happen.  Time and effort are required to end well.  An unknown writer says this about ending well: “Let me do the thing that ought to be done, when it ought to be done, as it ought to be done, whether I like to do it or not.”  In other words, whatever needs to be done to keep you on course in your Christian life, just do it!  So often, you will not feel like it or it may not be convenient.  All that does not matter.  The fact is, growing and staying enthusiastic about your relationship with Christ takes work.  The more work you put into it, the more you will get out of it.

This is all part of what Christ was telling His disciples, and us today.  “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me” (Matthew 10:38; NKJV).  Taking up your “cross” for Christ means doing whatever you need to do to keep a close relationship with Him.  Perhaps you have fallen away from that intimacy you once had with Christ.  Make the time to get back into Bible study and prayer with Him.  Take notice.  It will not just happen.  Like I said, “make” time for Christ in your daily life.  It will not just occur.  You can be so busy doing ministry, that your personal relationship with Christ is waning.

Start doing whatever you need to do to have a closer relationship with Christ today!  Yes, follow through
