From the onset of Christ’s resurrection, you are well aware that Christians have been anticipating His return. You are told by preachers to be ready at any minute. Christ may come back to earth for you when you least expect it. You are weary of life, here on earth, and desire is strong to be in heaven at home with Christ.
You look forward to the day of Christ’s return. But not everyone shares your enthusiasm. A man in Louisiana called to the attention of his non-Christian friend the word “Maranatha” on a bumper sticker. “What’s that mean?” his friend asked. He replied, “The Lord is coming!” His friend’s response was, “Ah, I don’t believe that!” And his answer was, “Well, He’s not coming for you.” Ha! Ha! You find humor in that response. And that response is so true. Sad to say though, that reply is a reality.
Christ told His disciples numerous times, during His earthly life with His disciples, that He would return to bring them to heaven. They questioned Him on how and when those things would take place. Christ answered their questions.
To make sure you know that Christ is coming back for you one day, the Lord boldly speaks in the very last chapter of the Bible about His return. “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20; NKJV). Christ emphasizes His return to earth for His believers by stating that He will return twice in that verse.
Look up because Christ is coming for those who know Him personally. To know Him personally, put your faith in Him for your forgiveness of your sins. He will forgive your sins just for the asking. Then, you are ready when He comes!
