As we live our lives, we come across some people who say there is no God. This sparks our interests, and we inquire further. They tell us they just cannot believe in faith, that a God exists. The existence of God is something they say they can’t believe in.
We quote Scriptures to them that show the existence of God. They tell us they do not believe in the Bible. Not to be silent on the issue, we tell them how science disproves the thought that God does not exist. No matter how may proofs we show them, their mind is made up. Sadly, they are not open to discussion. They hold firm to their beliefs.
It is easy to be an atheist, until you come face to face with some tragedy or imminent death. An infidel and some friends were drifting in a boat toward Niagara Falls. Seeing they were dangerously near the Falls, the infidel prayed. Afterward someone ask him why he, an atheist, prayed. He said, “While infidel is a good thing by which to drift down the river, it is not a good thing by which to go over the Falls.” In their hour of need, so many atheists turn to God.
The Scriptures talk about those without God. That is one of reasons I love the Scriptures so much, because it deals with all the knotty issues of life. It does not skirt around them. It tells us exactly what we need to know. In addressing atheists it says: “that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world” (Ephesians 2:12; NKJV). Without Christ is your life, it says you are “without hope.”
We need to stay at the task of sharing the Scriptures. While you are at it, just keep walking close to Christ!
