Christ put within ourselves the thought(s) of wanting something greater. That goes along with us thinking that what we have here on earth is not all that life has to offer. We think that somewhere, somehow life must include something greater. All this makes us strive for more than what we have.
To have more, we must put forth more effort to obtain more. Never satisfied within ourselves, as to what we have, is a God-given thing. He wants us to live for something much more important than a mere existence on earth. An unknown author, said it this way: “Feel discouraged? Remember, the goal worth reaching isn’t reached easily.” That quote is so very true of lots of things in our life. It is, especially, true in regards to spiritual things. To have heavenly rewards does not come easy. In fact, it is impossible for us to obtain in human terms. Only by faith in Christ can we obtain what our hearts yearn to desire.
The Bible supports that thought. It talks about the life of Moses. He was reared in the plushest of material wealth this world can offer. He was the adopted son of Pharaoh. He was next in line for the throne of Egypt. Everything this world had to offer was at his fingertips. Look at what Scripture tells us was his goal: “esteeming the approach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward” (Hebrews 11:26; NKJV). In other words, Moses had rather have all the approaches of following Christ, instead of the material Egyptian wealth. He looked beyond his earthly existence to the eternal heavenly existence with Christ one day.
Don’t settle for all this earthly life has to offer. Look beyond and live for eternal rewards! Do so every day!
