Maximum Ministry

Go back in time to when you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior.  What a change occurred in your life.  It may have been an emotional experience.  It may have been an intellectual occurrence.  No matter which one happened, accepting Christ as your personal Savior changed your life forever.

Reflecting on that time of becoming a Christian, you recall wondering what your place of service was in the church at that time.  Even now, some time later, you may wonder where you fit into God’s kingdom on earth.

One of the most important things you can do as a Christian is to be useful in your everyday living.  Robert Murray McCheyne gives some great wisdom in this regard, as he said, “A holy man is a great weapon in the hands of God.”  You can totally agree with that statement.  The problem is that you believe it in relation to other people, but not for yourself.  You do not see yourself as a holy person.

Jesus says some words to you just moments before He is taken to be crucified. Christ takes time to pray to the Father.  During this prayer Christ remembers His disciples, and you and me, as He prays: “Sanctify them by Your truth.  Your word is truth’ (John 17:17, NKJV).  Christ asks the Father to sanctify believers, which is the same thing as asking the Father to make them holy.  You are made holy by the Father’s truth.  The verse continues by saying that God’s truth is nothing more than God’s truth.  God’s truth is the Word of God.  You are made holy by the Holy Bible.

Ask Christ to give you a passion for reading and meditating upon the Scriptures.  As the Scriptures grip you, and are reflected in your daily living, you become more holy.  Your maximum ministry occurs as you become more holy.
