Core of Christianity

To start off with, the beginning of the core of Christianity is to become a Christian,  to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.  Christ saved you from your sins, and became the ruler of your life.  You no longer go along with the crowd, do your own thing, or be a people pleaser.  You live each and every day with eternity in mind.

You are to serve Christ in all you do.  It is a 24/7 commitment.  You are not to veer to the right or to the left, but to have a laser focus on doing Christ’s will for your life.  Ignatius Loyola wisely stated: “Teach us, good Lord, to serve Thee as Thou deserves: To give and not to count the cost; To fight and not to heed the wounds; To toil and not to seek for rest; To labor and not to ask for reward; Save that of knowing that we do Thy will.”  Stop!  Re-read that sentence slowly, and let. It sink in.  These last words carry with them the essence of all that is stated before it: “save that of knowing that we do Thy will.”  Doing Christ’s will for your life, is central to Godly living.

Christ knew that life on earth is a place full of temptations.  He knew the heart of man/woman and their unique struggles.  Following Christ’s will for your life occurs in a mental battleground.  Jesus gives you help in keeping His will for your life: “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to one and despise the other.  You cannot serve God and mammon” (Matthew 6:24, NKJV).  Christ reminds you to serve Him fully, and completely, every day.

The core of Christianity begins with making Christ Lord of your life, and continues by keeping Christ Lord of your life every day, there afterwards.  Remind yourself daily,
