You may be a person who has accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, but are not sure what He expects you do. You may think that what is required is for you to do more good deeds than bad at the end of your life. Or, you may think that you need to do some great thing for Christ while on this earthly journey. Those are good things to do, but Christians are to be known for something else.
Once you have accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior (your Christian life starts at that point), your next step concerns the way you live your life. Francis Bacon gives some good insights, when he said, “It is not what men eat, but what they digest that makes them strong; not what we gain, but what we save that makes us rich; not what we read, but what we remember that makes us learned; not what we preach or pray, but what we practice and believe that makes us Christians.” It is your actions that show you are a Christian, not the words you speak. As I was growing up, my mother must have told me hundreds of times, “Your actions speak louder than your words.” What you and I do, is so much more important than what we say.
Since your actions are of extreme importance in living the Christian life, what should you do? The Holy Bible gives us clear guidance: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15,58, NKJV). Thus, everything you do, should be done with Christ in mind. Putting that action into daily practice yields a huge heavenly reward. That Christlike work you do is never, ever in vain.
In a nutshell, you should put Christ first in your daily life! Today is a good time to start doing that!
