No Place Like Home

As you read the title, you may recall Dorothy’s words in “The Wizard of Oz.”  She repeatedly voiced those words over and over.  For her, and hopefully for you, home is a place that you look forward to going to.  When I was single, I made it a point that, when I got married my home was going to be filled with love, joy, and laughter.  To the best of my ability, that is exactly what it is today.  This year I celebrate 35 years of marriage, where those home goals have been put into action.

I understand.  Your home life may not be the same as mine.  Home for you may have been more like a war zone.  I am deeply moved for you.  Even though you may not have experienced a good home life, let the past stay in the past, and change the future for your home to be different.

The home is the place where its members first experience love, happiness, and encouragement.  Winston Churchill echoes those same words, when he said: “There is no doubt that it is around the family and the home that all the greatest virtues, the most dominating virtues of human society are created, strengthened and maintained.”  Make a decision right now, that your home will be one that reflects such attributes.

In talking about the home, the Word of God tells you to let it be the place of spiritual teaching.  The head of the house is to instruct spiritual truth to those in the family.  In talking about a husband teaching his wife spiritual truth, it tells him about his wife, “And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home” (1 Corinthians 14:35, NKJV).

There is no place like home.  Let your home be a place
