Tomorrow is Independence Day. In the USA, we celebrate our freedom as a nation. We are an independent nation, not bound by the laws and restrictions placed on us by England. It is a great day to relax and have some fun with family and/or friends. We celebrate and have a good time.
Freedom does not mean that you can go out and do whatever you please. With freedom comes restrictions. Freedom is not the right to do as a person pleases, but the liberty to do as he ought. Being free is a great feeling. Although, being free is not freedom to do as your heart desires. The freedom you have means that there are some things that you must do. Those things you must do, are not things that limit your freedom, but are things that give you the freedoms that you have.
Scripture talks about the freedoms you have in Christ. There is a whole chapter in the Bible discussing that freedom. At the very beginning of that chapter, it starts off talking about freedom: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made you free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage” (Galatians 5:1, NKJV). Christ has set you free from the law. There is not a set of rules and regulations by which you must follow. Yes, there are some restrictions on what you are to think and how you are to act in a Godly manner. Yet, there are numerous things in the Christian life that allow each believer to be free to have his/her convictions.
Remember, “Christ has made us free,” so do not place your personal convictions on other Christians. Allow room for “liberty,” as stated in the above verse. Obey the Word of God and kick your heels a bit to have some fun. Being a fun-loving Christian is a great testimony. You are free!
