Easter’s Aftermath

Yesterday was Easter.  Now, that the day is over, what significance does it have for you?  Yes, the chocolate bunnies are now here to be devoured.  The smell of the Easter lily is in the air.  The Easter egg hunt is over.  Life is back to normal.

If you are not careful, today will be like any other regular day in your life.  You will get back into your routine, and life will resume just like it was before Easter.  The daily routine will overshadow the meaning of Easter.

There are numerous lessons you can learn from Easter.  It reminds you of a fresh beginning.  It reminds you that one day you will have a resurrected body; that Christ is your risen Savior.  These are just a few of the things that Easter means to you.

Do not forget that everything that Easter means to you, as a Christian, begins back when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior.  And that is all based on God’s grace that He gave you at that time.  Donald Grey Barnhouse says it best when he said, “Love that reaches up is adoration.  Love that reaches across is affection.  Love that reaches down is grace.”  God’s grace makes all the difference in the world.

In talking about God’s grace, you see its impact in your life in Ephesians 2:8, 10: “For by grace you have been saved through faith . . . for we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.”  You are saved by God’s grace, but you are saved to go about and do good works for the Lord God.

The end result of celebrating Easter is to celebrate the risen Lord Jesus.  That celebration is not to be done just on Easter Sunday.  You are to live your daily life in such a way that you do good works for Christ.  Start right now!
