Making Life Count

You want to make your life count for something.  As you daily live, you want to be noticed for something.  True, you may not seek great and wonderful accolades, but you do want to be appreciated.

What is true of your secular life, is also true of your spiritual life.  You realize God has not called you to be a spiritual superstar.  He has given you a few gifts, and you want to be faithful in using them.

The Scriptures tell of our past failures, and how Christ came and gave us a new future.  Donald Grey Barnhouse touches on this when he said, “Christ took our hell so that we might take His heaven.”  You were destined to spend an eternity in hell.  That would be your destiny.  Then Christ stepped in.  He took your hell upon Himself, and in exchange, gave you heaven.

What are you to do in the interim between accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior and the time you leave earth and go to heaven?  Ephesians 5:8 explains what you are to do: “for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord, walk as children of Light.”  Notice the end of the verse: “walk as children of Light.”  In other words, stop living your life chained to that pet sin or two.  Give them up!  Let your life count as one that pleases the Lord.  Keep in mind that you are to “walk as children of Light.”

To make your life count, live as though you are a citizen of heaven.  It is past time to start living fully for Christ.  To really get the most out of this life on earth, and to get ready for heaven, you must get serious about your Christian walk.  You know what you need to do.  The Lord is telling you what He requires.  Now, this is the time to make that happen!
